Tell us about yourself and the art you are interested in.
I am an itinerant art collector and have sought out pieces that speak to me in some way or form. This often means finding that piece of art, be it at a gallery, an auction or an art fair where Art Money has provided me the ability to bring that artwork home. The convenience of buying art this way has been perfect and I feel this is a win-win for the artist and myself!
My tastes are varied including traditional artworks right through to contemporary pieces, which has meant that there is always something out there to pique my interest. This has allowed me to blend art and objects in often unexpected ways as artworks work best when they fit into your surroundings and compliment each other.
"The best part of Art Money is that it allows both the convenience of instant access to the artwork with full payment to the artist."
Tell us about the artworks you have purchased with Art Money and how you came to discover them.
Highlights of purchases I have made include an amazing early abstract expressionist painting by Peter Upward from Utopia Art Sydney which was offered to me at a time when funds were scarce but appreciation was high. Another great find was a wall sculpture of a black serpent by Elise Cameron-Smith that took my eye whist out jogging past Saint Cloche in Paddington; this has a tactile quality that looks and feels fabulous. Purchases I have made include from Sydney Contemporary, from art galleries and the Affordable Art Fair. The latter includes a beautiful bronze abstract figure by Vera Robinson from The Other Art Fair Sydney that reminded me of a blend of Henry Moore meets Brancusi.
Why do you choose to buy with Art Money?
The best part of Art Money is that it allows both the convenience of instant access to the artwork with full payment to the artist, so much better than a protracted lay-by where the artwork is frustratingly hidden away and payment to the artist is delayed. I have been to a gallery where I have seen the power of Art Money to secure a purchase by a hesitant collector, me! Spreading out the payments has made art purchases the perfect way to bring art into my life.
